bailout plan rejected

i don't really understand what is going on, but from what i've heard in the past few minutes about it, it doesn't sound very good. some company gave away money or loans or something that they didn't have or couldn't pay off. and now tax payers are being forced to help pay off their debt? i don't know... i don't ever pay attention to stuff like this. maybe i should start.

sleep

my dad makes me be in bed by 10 most of the time, but i usually don't ever go to sleep until around 11 or later. i lay in bed and talk on the phone or listen to music. that's what helps me settle in to go to sleep. i can't really tell any difference in my school work when i go to bed early or when i go to bed late. unless i'm up until like, 2 in the morning. then i would sleep through all of my classes. but i don't ever do that, so my performance at school is usually pretty consistant.

army reps

i really enjoyed having the representatives from the army come and speak to us yesterday. they really made me think about the things i need to be getting prepared for during my senior year in high school. i also learned a lot of stuff about the army that i never knew before. i have a whole different view on the army, now that i know more of what it is really about. but no, i am not contemplating an army career after high school. i think it seems like a good organization, i just can't see myself being a part of it and actually enjoying it.

legal drinking age

i don't think the legal drinking age should be changed from 21 to 18. i don't believe that 18 year olds should even be worried with alcohol. even though 18 is considered the age of adulthood, 18 is also the time when you're supposed to be making life decisions and figuring out what you want to do in life. 18 year olds should be more focused on their futures rather than partying and drinking. 21 is harldy a good age, but i think its more sensible than 18.

"even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there."

this quote means that even if you are in a good place, you can't ever give up or stay idle or you will never reach your goals. you have to push and keep working toward what you want, no matter how far along you already are.

college and career speaker

i thought our speaker informed with a lot of useful stuff for finding a good college to attend after high school. i think it would be very helpful for ms. gay to keep having guest speakers come and talk to us.

meghan mccain blog

if i were always followed by secret service agents, i think i would eventually go insane. at first i would appreciate the protection, but i like to have my privacy and be alone. even when i might be in a public place. i could understand how it would be a bigger deal if i were to become 'the president's daughter'. i think i just wouldn't go out as much.

dog dials 911

this is such a great story. i love animals so much. and i think it is wonderful that this man's life was saved because of his pet's good training. i've always dreamed of owning a pet that was cool enough to do things like that. like, open the fridge or a door, for me. and calling 911 in case of an emergency would definately be some useful training. i have two dogs, and they're both pretty smart, but i'm sure they wouldn't be capable of saving my life the way buddy did. buddy is just special.

homecoming 2008

i didn't go to the homecoming parade, dance, or game. i haven't been to a single homecoming event since i've been in high school. i would have liked to have gone to the dance, but i know my boyfriend wouldn't want to. but hopefully i'll be able to go to prom and i can make up for what i've missed out on. i heard it was kind of lame, but i would like to have the experience for myself to remember when i am older.

it's better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all. - alfred lord tennyson.

i believe love is a very important thing. no matter what kind of relationship it is pertaining to. love is something i think everyone should have in their life. it brings happiness and it allows you to care for someone other than yourself. and if a loved one leaves you, or passes away, or decieves you, then the lessons you learned will always have an impact on you, as well as your decision later on.

abandoned beijing baby

apparently there was a baby that was birthed into a toilet in china and then left there. i can only guess that the mother didn't want the baby. i know that the people in china are limited to the amount of children they have and there is also a tight limit on the amount of girls because they think boys are more useful. so maybe the mother had already reached her limit and didn't want the baby to be taken away from her and killed. so, she left it in the toilet so that it would become china's responibility. i don't know how that would help any, but maybe they'd send it to an orphanage or something so that they could one day be adopted by another family.

britney spears vs the VMA's

i watched a little bit of the VMA's but i didn't watch enough of it to see britney spears' performance. i would have liked to have seen that, though. being as how her last year's performance was a pretty big flop. out of the performances that i did see, the jonas brothers was my favorite haha. they were pretty lame, but they're sort of a guilty pleasure of mine. i usually only watch the VMA's to see which artists win which awards, because i don't think some of them really deserve the award they recieve. i'm disappointed that i didn't get to watch all of it, but it was my bedtime so i had to go sleep.

budget crisis

i don't really understand this whole deal with our new budget. teachers aren't allowed to call in a sub and if a they're ever out, another teacher has to use up their planning period time to watch the absent teacher's class. also there has been talk about us getting more students in our classes and some teachers being laid off. i don't really think they should do that any time soon. or at all. its hard enough trying to get one-on-one time with our teachers with the classes as they are. if there were more student in our classes our teachers would probably be too busy trying to keep the class in order to help us like we need to be helped.

blogging

so far, i have enjoyed blogging for this class. if had my own personal blog it would be A LOT different than this one. but the subjects we've been assigned have all been pretty neat and interesting, so i don't mind it one bit :)

female vp

republican presidential nominee john mccain chose sarah palin as his running mate last week. i think his choice was a good decision that will affect his campaign in a really positive way. hillary clinton's supporters will more than likely be drawn to mccain because palin is female, which, in turn, will provide more supporters for mccain. i think mccain should be our next president.

teen pregnancy

teen pregnancy has increased over the years because not enough parents have taken the time to talk to their children about saving themselves until marraige. i think teens tend to get caught up in having a boyfriend/girlfriend and they start to feel the pressure to have sex. and when some teens make the choice to have sex, they don't always use precautions to keep from getting pregnant. i don't think most teenage girls ever just plan to get pregnant while in highschool. but, it happens and teen mothers have to alter their lifestyles severely to keep up in their classes so that they can still get a high school diploma. having a baby is an enormous responsibility and i think some teenage girls should think more about that before having sex.
